What is a sustainable community:
What Does “Sustainable” Mean?
Simply said, sustainability is the concept of meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
Why should I care about Sustainability?
Not only are you enriching the lives of future generations through responsible choices, but sustainable communities provide higher indoor air quality for you and your family and saves you money on utilities.
What is a Sustainable Community?
A Sustainable Community utilizes smart design principles, innovative Green Building materials and technologies to create a neighborhood that makes a smaller footprint on the Earth, provides better indoor air quality in the homes, optimizes the synergy of community and saves you money.
All of our homes and the Community Building are “Green Buildings” which not only meet, but greatly exceed the rigid Colorado “Built-Green” standards.
What Is A Green Building?
Green buildings are structures that are cost-effectively designed, built, and operated in a manner that achieves the greatest possible energy efficiency, indoor air quality, occupant health, resource efficiency, and environmental compatibility. Green buildings are important elements of sustainable communities because they promote the use of locally produced, renewable products, environmentally sound development and construction practices, and energy-and resource-efficient systems. These practices help create communities that improve the quality of life and economic vitality for current and future generations. Source:www.sbrd.org
How Our Community Model Creates Sustainability:
1) Synergy through Shared Resources: Lyons Valley Village has an upscale “Community Building” to facilitate social interaction amongst residents and create more living space for residents so you don’t need a huge home and an extra bedroom! The “Community Building” offers a guest suite for visitors, a grand kitchen, dining area for potlucks or group meals, a sitting room/library, a laundry room and a children’s play area.
2) Self-Managed HOA Model: We provide the community with the HOA structure, covenants and by-laws but the Community drives the management process, not a costly HOA management company. This not only saves the community money, but it affords the community greater decision-making ability about their neighborhood and helps residents learn to work together as a “community”.
3) Community Education: Wonderland is the only developer that adds value in an innovative way by providing ongoing continuing education for residents on communication, conflict resolution, facilitation and ways to optimize the sustainable features within their homes.
